{"id":8971,"date":"2023-11-16T11:05:00","date_gmt":"2023-11-16T11:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arliemediadesign.com\/?post_type=case-study&#038;p=8971"},"modified":"2025-03-20T11:14:32","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T11:14:32","slug":"case-study-ashbury-putting-trust-and-freedom-into-place","status":"publish","type":"case-study","link":"https:\/\/www.happy.co.uk\/case-studies\/case-study-ashbury-putting-trust-and-freedom-into-place\/","title":{"rendered":"Ashbury"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>All eight Directors have experienced the\u00a0<a href=\"\/leadership-and-personal-development\/leadership-and-management-programmes\/happy-leadership-programme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">four-day Happy Leadership Programme<\/a>\u00a0and all front-line managers have attended the\u00a0<a href=\"\/leadership-and-personal-development\/leadership-and-management-programmes\/managing-for-the-first-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">two-day Managing for the First Time course<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both programmes are based upon the ideas in\u00a0<a href=\"\/the-happy-manifesto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>The Happy Manifesto<\/em><\/a>\u00a0of giving people trust and freedom within clear guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe only criticism I have had is to ask why we didn\u2019t do it sooner. I read&nbsp;<em>The Happy Manifesto<\/em>&nbsp;some years ago and it absolutely fits with our values. One colleague asked why it took so long to do this.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Feeling trusted gives you more energy&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPeople feel more trusted. They feel confident in making their own decisions,\u201d explains Amanda Seddon, UK Technical Team Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFeeling trusted makes you feel so much more powerful. You have so much more energy. And it\u2019s infectious,\u201d says Zoe Jorden, New Business Development Director. \u201cAnd that brings accountability too, with clear responsibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt has given us the tools to let people know that we trust them,\u201d continues Amanda. \u201cThey know what the boundaries are, and they can work within them, using their judgement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Not easy but it makes sense<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s an easy programme. It challenges a lot of things but makes an awful lot of sense. You can see the difference. Yesterday somebody asked me \u2018can you double-check this?\u2019. I said \u2018why? I trust you\u2019. Even down the phone line I could feel her sense of pride.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnother benefit of the programme is that it has brought the team together and given us time to really get to know each other,\u201d explains Claudine Lefebvre, International and Regulatory Team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Would it be useful for others?
